My Musings: A Pakistani American teenager with a bright future ahead of her is thrust into a very complicated situation. Naila, a high school senior with conservative parents, is keen on furthering her education and be with the love of her life, Saif. But what happens when her parents find out about her love interest? An impromptu vacation back to the roots.
What Naila thinks is a normal summer vacation with lots of dinner parties and random visitors, is more than what it seems. As the weeks go by and the vacation extends without notice, she starts to worry. Then one day, the truth is revealed. Her parents have brought her to Pakistan to be married off and they have chosen someone. Will she be able to convince her parents not marry her off? Will she be able to escape the arrangement at all? Her only hope is Saif and to get to him is a dangerous venture…
I don’t want to give away the ending or the any other part of the story, so I will leave you all with these cliffhangers. However, I will say that this book was a fast and good read. I recommend it to all. The subject touch the strings of real events that have been going on for a while and it still occurs. It does not pertain to just one country. And it can get pretty scary.
